Winnipeg will soon be home to Princess Auto’s largest store yet, offering more tools, equipment and gear in one place.
Construction is underway on the 105,000-square-foot store, which will feature new categories to better serve customers. The new store, located at 500 Panet Road, is currently slated to open summer 2026. Its construction represents the latest chapter in a continuing investment by Princess Auto in the Winnipeg community, since its founding on Princess Street nearly a century ago by Harvey Tallman. Harvey grew the business from an auto wrecker on Princess Street to a mail order service, followed by expansion to a national retailer by second generation owners, Larry and Bob Tallman. This phase of growth is led by current owners, Matt and Marc Tallman, in keeping with the legacy started by their grandfather. This will mark the 14th store opened under third generation leadership, and the 59th store in the Princess Auto network.
“It will be the same Princess Auto you know and love, but with more room and more selection.” said Ken Larson, President & CEO of Princess Auto.
“The larger store will allow us to offer new services and experiences designed for our customers, whether you’re down to explore or just want to grab what you need and head back to the job.” One new experience that the large format store will offer to those customers who want to explore and tinker is an in-store workshop that will have scheduled programming.
“The Shop will offer demonstrations, training and hands-on opportunities for everyday experts, right here in the store,” Larson continued. “We want to create opportunities for our customers to learn, build and get inspired.”
