Snow Drag

Tell us about yourself: “I have 40 yrs + experience in welding and fabrication. I own a fabricating shop in Fredericton.”

Nothing better than a well-groomed trail to enjoy a little outdoor time on the snowmobile or ATV. The design on this trail groomer features a solar-powered electrical system to raise and lower the wheels as needed.

Great project, Germain! Thanks for sharing it with us!

For a well-groomed trail.

What is it? I built a snow drag for an ATV club to use for ATV/snowmobile trail grooming. It measures 10 feet by 64 inches, with four scrapers, movable wheels and a solar panel to recharge a deep cycle battery used to operate the two electric jacks.

What is the main power source for your project? (e.g. electric motor, gas engine etc.) Two battery operated 12V electric jacks and solar panel to charge the deep cycle battery.

How do you control your project? (e.g. hydraulic control valve(s), electric switches etc.) I use wireless electric remote switches.

What design/build challenges did you overcome? I had to figure out how to make the rear wheels and front hitch lift.

If you had to build it again, what would you do differently? I would reinforce the jack brackets and install lighting for safety.

Which Princess Auto location do you visit most? Fredericton, NB
