Getting your boat in (or out of) the water shouldn’t be a strenuous process - after all, you’re there to relax, right? Olin took his manually operated boat lift and improved it by adding a few hydraulic components. Now he can raise and lower his boat with a touch of a button!
Great project, Olin! Thanks for sharing it with us!
What is it? A boat lift that was originally manual, and was converted into a hydraulic lift using Princess Auto parts.
What is the main power source for your project? (e.g. electric motor, gas engine etc.) Hydraulic pump powered by a deep cycle battery.
How do you control your project? (e.g. hydraulic control valve(s), electric switches etc.) Controlled by an up/down switch.
What components are used to perform the work for your project? (e.g. hydraulic cylinder(s), hydraulic motor(s), sprockets, pulleys etc.) Hydraulic pump, hydraulic cylinders, deep cycle battery.
What design/build challenges did you overcome? Creating mounting locations for the cylinders. Levelling the lift in the water.
If you had to build it again, what would you do differently? It turned out pretty good.
Which Princess Auto location do you visit most? Kanata, Ontario
