Tell us about yourself: “I’m a semi-retired dairy farmer from Prince Edward Island.”
Snowmobile riders know how grinding down wear bars affect steering control, and nobody wants to be in a situation where they’re unable to turn when needed to avoid obstacles while on the trail (trees, rocks, wildlife, or an oncoming rider). These are expensive to replace, so Nicholas fabricated these ski lifters to help avoid premature wear.
Nice project, Nicholas! Thanks for sharing it with us!
What is it?
It’s a kit we built for lifting the front of a snowmobile when driving across the road or parking lot without wearing down the carbides, with complete control to the gas pumps!
What components are used to perform the work for your project? (e.g. hydraulic cylinder(s), hydraulic motor(s), sprockets, pulleys etc.)
The main power is from two 12V linear actuators from Princess Auto.
What design/build challenges did you overcome?
Finding the right lift height and the right size wheels.
If you had to build it again, what would you do differently?
Nothing, it works great!
Which Princess Auto location do you visit most?
Charlottetown, P.E.I.
