Mobile Home Leveller

We’re digging into our archives once again for another Project Showcase file we first featured back in 2007. The first submissions were actually hydraulic systems designed by our store teams in response to a customer’s unique problem that needed a solution.

This time, we’re looking at a portable mobile home leveller assembled by our Edmonton West team. It was powered by a 5.5 HP Honda GX gas engine, and capable of 2 GPM @ 3,000 PSI. This unit was used to operate six 4 in. bore, 12 in. stroke double-acting cylinders, which were modified because they required a flat plate on the base end. These cylinders featured female Pioneer quick couplers in each port. All six cylinders were connected to the power unit via 100 feet of hydraulic hose; this gave the operator the ability to position the cylinders anywhere around the mobile home.

The cart design allowed it to hold all of the main power pack components. Part of the front panel was cut out to allow access to the gas engine’s recoil starter. The cart also carried a 3-gallon oil reservoir with a 10 Micron filter on the return side.

A six-spool BM40 directional control valve was used and routed to 12 female Pioneer quick couplers, which were mounted on a metal plate welded to the cart and painted red to match. The cart also had sides that folded down to allow access to the control valves. When the side is up it acts as guard so the operator didn’t accidentally engage the system.
